Style crush of the moment - Kaya Scodelario

-->
Kaya Scodelario is an 18 – year – old British actress mostly known for her role in “Skins”. As Effy Stonem in the E4 series, she was first casted back in 2007 to play a small, non-speaking role of main character’s sister. By 2008 her character developed and in 2009 she’s become a central character of the series. Even though the fourth and final series for Kaya has already finished, there is some gossip that there actually might be “Skins” the movie in the works, where chacters from 3&4 series would play the main characters, including Ms. Scodelario.
Kaya has started her career by being a model. She’s model fo many magazines like Teen Vogue, Nylon, Instyle UK, Elle UK, Dazed & Confused, Vogue and i-D. Back in 2009 she’s debuted on the big screen in “Moon”, where she played along Sam Rockwell. This year she’s appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster “Clash of the Titans” and most importantly last month it was confirmed that she’s to play Cathy in a new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights directed by Andrea Arnold.
In my opinion Kaya is very mature and has an explicit style. She doesn’t need much to look amazing. With a black eye – liner to show those amazing blue eyes basically all the clothes look great. Her style is a bit edgy but she wears a lot of dresses and tries more girly style as well. She was voted 13th in FHM's 100 World's Sexiest Women this year and with the Wuthering Heights in making she’s the girl to watch in the near future.

Cannes we? Yes we Cannes!

This year’s Cannes Festival took place from 12 to 23 May. Many of the movie stars have arrived to show their newest productions to the audience for the first time. The opening movie was a long waited “Robin Hood” with Russel Crow and Cate Blanchett. I’ m not sure about the movie but I know that Cate was a vision in an Alexander McQueen gown at the premiere of her film.

The Jury this year was as always a beautiful mixture of all the creativity. The President of the Jury this jury was Tom Burton, a director of “Alice in Wonderland” and many others. I though it was interesting to choose him for this job since Tom is mostly known for his gothic and imaginary pictures but then probably that’s why he was chosen. Burton is a true artist. He’s a painter, illustrator and photographer. In his own words “Films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true”. The rest of the jury included Alberto BARBERA - Director of Museum of Cinema, Kate BECKINSALE – Actress, Emmanuel CARRERE – Writer, Benicio DEL TORO – Actor, Alexandre DESPLAT – Composer, Victor ERICE- Director, Shekhar KAPUR – Director, Giovanna MEZZOGIORNO – actress.
When thinking about Cannes before the movies I think the red carpet. And when I see the red carpet I see fashion. There were some amazing clothes at Cannes this year. Kate Beckinsale, who was in jury this year, looked fabulous in all of her looks which included Dior, Gucci Premiere (more about the line later), Marchesa and Armani Privé. There was magnificent as always Diane Kruger, Camille Belle and Michelle Williams.

I’ve said before I was going to write about Gucci Premiere. It was announced earlier this year that Gucci was adding a new couture line to their brand. As Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini explained – it was the answer to the celebrities that urged for a special Gucci gown. Giannini decided to launch a couture line that would be only available on a made-to-order basis and for celebrities to wear on red carpet outings. Gucci Premiere got its premiere during this year’s Cannes Festival. First actress to wear it was Salma Hayek, who wore a “floor length bordeaux silk georgette one shoulder gown with hip, back and shoulder drape detail [which] also features deep red crystal embroidery at the shoulder and waist”. Later on other celebrities followed. It seems that Gucci Couture is a couture to have these days.

Wow it was a really great week in fashion! Below I’m presenting the best looks of the Cannes Festival 2010 :

The "it" Day

I'm really sick at the moment and crazy busy at work but I'm still very excited about tonight! It's the official premiere of the Sex and the City 2 movie in Poland and I'm going! There is a whole event about it with bollywood dancing (I guess due to the Moroccan theme in the movie) and some surprises so I really can't wait! Yesterday my Sex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure. book has arrived but I've sworn not to open it until I see the movie. It might spoil it all! But last night was very tough because of that... especially when the cover looks very promissing ... I hope I can do it and don't touch it until the end of the day ;)
I've prepared a lot of articles about Cannes and some new inspirations which I will post this weekend so hang in to that.
To all of those SATC fans out there - enjoy this day and the movie and of course let me know what you think!

Favorite looks of this week 17.05 -23.05.2010

Sarah Jessica Parker in a Proenza Shouler dress from SS10 collection and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. I love those! It looks like Sarah is wearing a lot of creations from Mr. Kirkwood lately. These ones are simply perfect. If only I could have those 665 pounds ...

Kirsten Dunst in a Miu Miu skirt from SS2010 Collection. I love Miu Miu's collection this season and this look is so Kirsten. Big plus for the Chanel bag from the new collection.

                                         Kate Moss in Topshop

                                     Hayden Penettiere in Emilio Pucci

Countdown to SEX

Yes ladies and gentleman, it's just one week until the premiere of the "Sex and the City 2" movie! I'm so excited about it and literally cannot wait until Friday night when me and one of my best friends are going to watch it together. Me and K. are really obsessed with SATC. We've seen the series hundreds of times, the same with the first movie. We also collect the books. Obviously the main one "Sex and the city" by Candace Bushnell is a must but there are so many others.

I've had "Kiss and Tell" for few years now. The best thing about it is that you have so many pictures from all the six seasons. You can see how the girls and their style changed over the years. There is the detailed storyline from the series and all of those classic places that the girls spend their time at. I love going back to this book whenever I miss the series or look for some inspiration.

Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell, Updated Edition

Those two arrived in my post last evening! I couldn't find the "Sex and the City" movie album anywhere in Poland. I've finally ordered it online from the UK. The timing was perfect to remind me about all the beautiful outfits and the whole story from the first film. There are loads of pictures of clothes with the descriptions, all the interiors and candids. I've already ordered the album for  the second movie. As I've seen from some previews there are going to be even more detailed pictures presenting all the looks! Can't wait for it to arrive!

Sex and the CitySex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure.

Last book is Candace Bushnell's latest. "Carrie Diaries" is a story about early years of Carrie Bradshaw, before she came to New York and became a columnist for the "New York Star". I'm not totally sure if this book is going to be good or Ms. Bushnell wrote it to make some money, especially since the new movie is coming out. But anyway I've decided to give it a try. I'm just starting reading it and I'll let you know my opinion by next week.

The Carrie Diaries

For now let's prepare some cute outfits, a Manhattan drink and book the tickets. "Sex and the City 2" is out next week!

Blair vs. Serena - style from Gossip Girl Season 3

The third series of Gossip Girl has ended this week. As with the two previous seasons, third one was as well full of lots of drama, romance but mostly great clothes. I don't believe that there is even one fashionista out there who'd not want to spend some time in Blair's or Serena's wardrobe. Some of the looks this past season were definitely memorable. Of course some outfits could probably be worn mostly on Upper East Side but the rest of them are a base for a great inspirational pieces we can wear everyday. My favourite Serena's look was when she stepped in a purple Hervé Léger bandage dress and a long jacket with rolled up sleeves. This outfit is perfect if you're looking for a businessy like choice.

All of the girls and boys as well are always perfectly dressed on Gossip Girl but there are two main characters that are the queens of GG style. Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf are the ones with the best stylists in the world and the biggest credit card limits. It's hard to decide which character is a better fashionista. This season Serena was doing some job internships, which showed us her not only running in a dress from one party to another but also choosing some more sophisticated clothes to go to the office. This is the reason I have to choose Serena over Blair this year. Even though Blair's ribbons and perfect Upper East Side outfits by great designers are mostly amazing, in my opinion she tends to over do it. Overall I'm always excited before watching a new episode of the show to see what new clothes would those two characters wear. Gossip Girl Season 3  - 1:0 for Serena. Do you agree?
 XO XO 'till next season!
