Lonesome Traveler

I’ve recently got back from a 3 week holiday in the States. It wasn’t my first time over there but it was the first time I was travelling by myself for such a long period of time and on a different continent. It wasn’t planned like this from the beginning but as we know the world has this funny way of changing your perfect plans and then you have to act accordingly. I love to travel and have spent some time of my life living abroad but it was always with some friends or host family. This time I knew it was all up to me. And of course before going there were some questions that popped into my mind like – What if something would happen? Whom would I call? What if I got robbed or worse ... I can tell you now that none of this thing happened and it was an amazing adventure I would remember forever and I am sure I’d repeat somewhere along the way.

So the idea behind this post is to share with you some thoughts I had about being a single traveler. Maybe there are some people out there who would like to experience a similar adventure but are afraid or need some inspiration. If that’s the case I am here to help!

You can do what you want ... always!

Isn’t it the best? You can actually DO WHAT YOU WANT! If you feel like a museum – you go visit one, if you feel like sleeping in one day – you do that. There isn’t anybody hovering over you. There aren’t any fights on where to go, who want to do what. You’re the boss. And I don’t know about you but I like to be one :)

Meet new people

I don’t know how about you but usually when I travel in a group, I stick to the group. Of course there are some ‘hi’s’ and ‘where’re you from’s’ along the way, but I never actually MEET the new people. If you’re travelling by yourself it’s part of fun to ACTUALLY meet people. Spend some time with them. Get to know them. It’s fun. Try it!

3.  Discover yourself

In everyday lives we rush to our jobs, our families, after hours hobbies. Always busy, always in a rush. And it’s so nice to actually have some time to spend ... with yourself. You are with your own thoughts, you have some time for realizing what you want and what you would like to do. What makes you laugh, what makes you cry. It’s time to switch of a little. Cut yourself of from Social Media, computer in general and just focus on yourself. You can write a diary or what’s a cool idea I read online and used it during my last trip – write postcards to yourself! From every place you visit – explain why you like it, what you’ve seen/experienced. It would be a great gift waiting for you upon your arrival home. I’m still to go over my postcards but I am waiting for some really grey winter evening when going over postcards from California would feel like the best thing in the world.

I am a travel freak and I am always planning my next one. I’d like to share more of those with you here. I’d love to hear about your travel experiences!

‘Till next time!

Summer time in Vogue

I haven’t been so excited about a Vogue cover for a very long time. Natasha Poly on the cover of Vogue Paris June/July 2014 issue is everything which I could expect from the French edition. The picture shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin is fresh, imaginary, beautifully shot but ... still leaves some parts to imagination. It feels so refreshing and I couldn’t love it more!
I am pretty sure it’s my favorite cover of Vogue Paris since the reign of Emmanuelle Alt. It feels so summery so that I feel like jumping into water myself. (Since my holidays are 3 months ahead it would be pretty hard though J). I am definitely going to be picking up this issue when it hits my local store.
What do you all think about the cover?

Capsule Collection #1

Creating a capsule collection is a true goal of mine. It’s also a real challenge. To own this perfect black jacket, perfect pair of blue jeans and white shirt is a must in every fashionista’s wardrobe. The idea seems easy. Simply get those classics, put in your wardrobe and the job is done. That would be perfect right? But it’s not so easy if you want to do it properly. The whole purpose of creating such capsule collection is to get the best of the best. Clothes that would be a perfect fit and of impeccable quality that would last a lifetime.

To be honest I’ve never really thought of investing in clothes. I am a true believer of investing in accessories. I have a ‘list’ of the items I’d like to add to my wardrobe – shoes, bags, jewelry. Very simple and classic. That I am trying to add to my collection every so often.
Now I’ve decided to take the next step and put together a list of the ‘it’ items I would build my wardrobe on. First thing is to realize what your style is and what makes you most comfortable. I feel like I’ve finally got there.  And I am ready to invest!

Lait de Coco? What?!

Pics found on style.com

Karl Lagerfeld did it again. He’s created not only a fashion show but a whole world, into which we were invited for few minutes. But if you’ve expected a magical world as seen during previous Chanel shows, you could have been disappointed. This time around Karl brought us somewhere closer, to a place we all know very well and where all of us go every day ... to a convenient store.

A star is born ... Lupita Nyong'o

It was an amazing Awards Season! Especially fashion wise. With Academy Awards finalizing few weeks of continuous events and parties, it’s time to look back and summarize the best of the best. There were the Hollywood stars, great movies, red carpets and impeccable style. Jennifer Lawrence tripped  - again. Leonardo DiCaprio did not win the Oscar – again. But fortunately there were also some good things that happened for the first time like ...  Lupita Nyong’o’ s many perfect style decisions on the red carpet.

3 things I am looking forward to during Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is finally here! After New York, London and Milano, the big finale is upon us. All the big fashion houses are here – Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton. All the celebrities, bloggers and models are also ready to roll. Today I am going to share with you three things that I am most excited about for days to come.

1. Louis Vuitton show - Nicolas Ghesquière’s first big night!
Ghesquière is one of the most talented designers of his generation. I am a true fan of his ever since his impeccable job he’s shown at Balenciaga. After the news broke of him replacing Marc Jacobs in the French fashion house I couldn't stop thinking what would he bring to the table? Mark your calendars – March 5th at 10 am.
2. French Voguettes
As ‘Vogue’’s biggest fan and even bigger one of ‘Vogue Paris’ crew I cannot wait for all the outings of the magazine’s crew. Leading lady Emmanuelle Alt and her entourage Geraldine Saglio, Capucine Safyurtlu are always the ones to watch. Cannot wait for all the pics representing classic French chic.
3. Chanel
Chanel shows are the most epic ones. Karl Lagerfeld every season brings it and creates a totally new magical world for all us to enjoy.  I am very much looking forward to what else he’s hiding in his sleeve.
And what are you looking forward to?

Hey, what's that on your back?

People are crazy about the backpacks ... those Chanel ones especially. Ever since they showed up on the runway, in the ads and on Kristen Stewart arm, the world got mad!  And finally they landed in stores – at Colette in Paris anyways.
According to the online sources, Chanel's Art School Backpack will cost around $3400! This might shock some but I’m quite sure that the price for many would not be a problem especially since it’s become already ‘it’ product of the season.
I wonder why would we want to go back in time and throw on a backpack like in the school years while back and forget for a moment about some classic totes? Is it a trend? A fashion statement? Or is it simply comfortable?
I’d say it’s a little bit of everything. Spring/Summer time is definitely  a moment  when we can hide our heavy totes in the corner and use something more fun, lighter and comfy. Who wouldn’t want for once have our hands free for a day? I know I would and backpacks are the ones to give us this freedom. I am still in the search for my special one. I am not going to splurge on Chanel one (2.55 has to come first J) but there are so many great ones available both in the designer stores and on high street.
What do you think about the backpack trend? Are you going to get one this season?
