Balmain x H&M

It was the news of the day, the news of the month or maybe even the news of the year so far! Balmain is the next fashion house which will collaborate with H&M on a limited collection. I can hear those ‘Yeahs’ and happy sounds made by fans all around the world, myself included. Who wouldn’t want to own a Balmain dress or a jacket at much more affordable price? I am sure you all would and if so remember to mark your calendars on November 5 2015 – get yourself ready – it will be a battle field I am sure.

VOGUE Festival 2015 – Report and highlights

Participating in an event as VOGUE Festival is a must and true necessity for all VOGUE lovers out there. The festival is a quintessence of what magazine stands for. Of course there is fashion, but there is also beauty, art, inspiration, fun and wit. If you want to absorb it all you probably would have to call Hermione Granger and borrow her time turner for a day or two. There are the classes, talks, masterclasses, make-up and hair stylings, VOGUE cover shoots and many more. I found myself taking part in few of them and will share them with you today.

CHANEL limits

As we’re approaching a new global Chanel price increase tomorrow I once again wonder whether the bar set out this high would ever stop moving and finally find a cozy place at one constant level. Is there a point where enough is enough? Where we simply won't buy one more bag because the prices are pretty horrendous. Will it ever get to this? And are there any limits to us - as costumers - in buying Chanel? Or maybe it’s all worth it? Read on if you’d like to learn opinion of one European girl with not that big wallet.

A TREND alert - Black & White at the OSCARS 2015!

There were traditionally lots of black, nude, red and white dresses last night at the Academy Awards red carpet but there was one trend that truly caught my eye. The mixture of black&white. A couple of celebs seemed to have a problem choosing between black and white so why not to choose both? What some of them wore were true Oscar worthy choices. Come inside to check them out!

Spring/Summer 2015 Trend .... Gladiator sandals

Literally almost all of the designers put them on the runway during their Spring/Summer 2015 shows. Ferretti, McQueen, Chloe … take your pick. Gladiators … those shoe stars of the spring need to find a spot in your closets before the warmer days come. Which ones will you choose?

Swimsuits for all

Today is the day all men out there have been waiting for. A new annual issue of ‘Sports Illustrated - Swimsuit Edition’ is hitting the stores. This year a single model had a privilege of gracing it and her name is Hannah Davis. A 24-year-old beautiful model has been on everyone’s lips ever since Jimmy Kimmel presented a cover few days back during his live show. But this ‘Swimsuit’ edition has been talked about also due to some other factor. It’s the first time in history that there are plus-size models featured in the issue. A small step for curvy women?

Summer time in Vogue

I haven’t been so excited about a Vogue cover for a very long time. Natasha Poly on the cover of Vogue Paris June/July 2014 issue is everything which I could expect from the French edition. The picture shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin is fresh, imaginary, beautifully shot but ... still leaves some parts to imagination. It feels so refreshing and I couldn’t love it more!
I am pretty sure it’s my favorite cover of Vogue Paris since the reign of Emmanuelle Alt. It feels so summery so that I feel like jumping into water myself. (Since my holidays are 3 months ahead it would be pretty hard though J). I am definitely going to be picking up this issue when it hits my local store.
What do you all think about the cover?

Capsule Collection #1

Creating a capsule collection is a true goal of mine. It’s also a real challenge. To own this perfect black jacket, perfect pair of blue jeans and white shirt is a must in every fashionista’s wardrobe. The idea seems easy. Simply get those classics, put in your wardrobe and the job is done. That would be perfect right? But it’s not so easy if you want to do it properly. The whole purpose of creating such capsule collection is to get the best of the best. Clothes that would be a perfect fit and of impeccable quality that would last a lifetime.

Lait de Coco? What?!

Pics found on style.com

Karl Lagerfeld did it again. He’s created not only a fashion show but a whole world, into which we were invited for few minutes. But if you’ve expected a magical world as seen during previous Chanel shows, you could have been disappointed. This time around Karl brought us somewhere closer, to a place we all know very well and where all of us go every day ... to a convenient store.

A star is born ... Lupita Nyong'o

It was an amazing Awards Season! Especially fashion wise. With Academy Awards finalizing few weeks of continuous events and parties, it’s time to look back and summarize the best of the best. There were the Hollywood stars, great movies, red carpets and impeccable style. Jennifer Lawrence tripped  - again. Leonardo DiCaprio did not win the Oscar – again. But fortunately there were also some good things that happened for the first time like ...  Lupita Nyong’o’ s many perfect style decisions on the red carpet.

3 things I am looking forward to during Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is finally here! After New York, London and Milano, the big finale is upon us. All the big fashion houses are here – Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton. All the celebrities, bloggers and models are also ready to roll. Today I am going to share with you three things that I am most excited about for days to come.

1. Louis Vuitton show - Nicolas Ghesquière’s first big night!
Ghesquière is one of the most talented designers of his generation. I am a true fan of his ever since his impeccable job he’s shown at Balenciaga. After the news broke of him replacing Marc Jacobs in the French fashion house I couldn't stop thinking what would he bring to the table? Mark your calendars – March 5th at 10 am.
2. French Voguettes
As ‘Vogue’’s biggest fan and even bigger one of ‘Vogue Paris’ crew I cannot wait for all the outings of the magazine’s crew. Leading lady Emmanuelle Alt and her entourage Geraldine Saglio, Capucine Safyurtlu are always the ones to watch. Cannot wait for all the pics representing classic French chic.
3. Chanel
Chanel shows are the most epic ones. Karl Lagerfeld every season brings it and creates a totally new magical world for all us to enjoy.  I am very much looking forward to what else he’s hiding in his sleeve.
And what are you looking forward to?

Hey, what's that on your back?

People are crazy about the backpacks ... those Chanel ones especially. Ever since they showed up on the runway, in the ads and on Kristen Stewart arm, the world got mad!  And finally they landed in stores – at Colette in Paris anyways.
According to the online sources, Chanel's Art School Backpack will cost around $3400! This might shock some but I’m quite sure that the price for many would not be a problem especially since it’s become already ‘it’ product of the season.
I wonder why would we want to go back in time and throw on a backpack like in the school years while back and forget for a moment about some classic totes? Is it a trend? A fashion statement? Or is it simply comfortable?
I’d say it’s a little bit of everything. Spring/Summer time is definitely  a moment  when we can hide our heavy totes in the corner and use something more fun, lighter and comfy. Who wouldn’t want for once have our hands free for a day? I know I would and backpacks are the ones to give us this freedom. I am still in the search for my special one. I am not going to splurge on Chanel one (2.55 has to come first J) but there are so many great ones available both in the designer stores and on high street.
What do you think about the backpack trend? Are you going to get one this season?

Fast Fashion

Photo found on: style.com
Just as it was stated on his t-shirt, Jeremy Scott showed that maybe he does not speak Italian but he definitely does know the language of Moschino. His collection for Italian brand that was shown during ongoing Milan Fashion Week  is already a huge success and bloggers and fashionistas all around the world proudly choose Scott’s designs and accessories for their street fashion styling.

Jeremy Scott is in my opinion Andy Warhol of our ages. In the times when we forget sometimes that fashion is simply fashion and is taken way too much seriously, he brilliantly reminds us it’s another way around while mixing haute couture with the cartoonish and fast food symbols of our times. Scott as always has fun with what he’s doing. He knows his pop culture and is not afraid to use it. Chanel inspired suit looks in his opinion just as good in McDonald’s red and yellow colors as in Chanel’s classic white.

It was Jeremy’s first collection for Italian brand after his appointment to the creative director role last year. He was definitely inspired by Moschino’s creator Franco Moschino who was never afraid to poke big names of fashion world. Apparently he was once even sued by Chanel  for taking the inspiration part way too far. Not anymore though. Jeremy’s playful and fresh approach keeps him unpunished. And we like it! Scott seems to be saying that fast fashion just like fast food comes and goes very quickly. And that’s good since his next collection will arrive on the runway and in stores in the next 6 months and we need to enjoy his latest collection while we can.

Right after the show Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad was seen holding her iPhone with a new case from Moschino collection. It looked just like the models on the runway presenting ‘McDonalds’s‘Happy Meals' and I’m sure will become the biggest hit from the collection.

Runaway capsule collection is already available on the Moschino’s website and in stores. The iphone case from the collection can be yours for EUR 48 and “Happy Meal” leather bag for EUR 599,00.

What do you think about Jeremy’s collection?

Polish Angels

Victoria's Secret fashion show is one of those events like Oscars or Golden Globes. You just keep on waiting each year anticipating the big day. This year is not any different. With the show being filmed this week we already got some sneak peek what's ahead of us before we will see it on TVs in December. I for one cannot wait!

Pictures that appeared online only few minutes after the show - thanks to social media - made it possible for us to enjoy all the looks and backstage fun. (Thank you Instagram!). I am especially proud this year since 3 Polish models participated in the big show! Magdalena Frackowiak, Kasia Struss and Monika JAC Jagaciak. Love them all very much but have to admit that Magdalena definitely stood out of the three. The pictures and little videos from those lucky enough to be participating in the show show are the best adverts for the show. And now I believe all of us cannot wait for the whole thing to be out finally. Until then web is our friend.

'Till next time
M.

Favorites from NYFW S/S 2014

It was just starting and now it’s over, the first of all Fashion Weeks – New York City edition is a dream to participate in. It’s my biggest dream to be a part of this even at least for one show someday. Last year on my US vacation I spent few days in New York and went to Lincoln Center during NYFW. It was amazing to see all of those stylish people, models, journalists, bloggers. It gave me a little glimpse into this world and how it’s being done New York style. Hopefully one day I will be able to get inside (dream on J) but for now as a true fashion lover together with a half of the world I was following the shows, street fashion and surrounding events of New York Fashion Week. Before we’ll all go to London, check out my very subjective list of everything that I loved about this past NYFW!

Check please!

It’s one of the most important trends to wear this fall. Checkers took the fashion world by storm and after returning to the runways last March, they are finally available in stores. For this season when you think checkers – you must think Moschino. There is no other way. Their whole fashion show for F/W 2013 was evolving around checkered pants and  blazers. Love it!

As much as I’d love to get the whole collection from Moschino’s online store not everybody (yet J) can afford trousers for 708 euros though. Thankfully here comes Mango with their version of checkered trousers for only €30!  They come in two color versions so you can choose either red or blue. For me it definitely must be red and I will be checking them out on my next trip to Mango!

And what do you think about checkered clothes for the new season?

Getting ready for fall

The hot days are over – er, the hot days are over ... In Poland at least. After extremely hot summer time, the leaves are falling down and it seems that the season change is inevitable. Even though I love sun and warm days, I am a fall girl. Being born in September for me this time of year was always associated with gifts, new clothes and getting ready for school which I loved!

Now being in my late twenties (OMG should I even say that?!) I still enjoy the time when fall comes. It’s mostly because of the September Vogues arriving in my mail J. And of course what can be better than prepping your wardrobe for the colder months! All those new collections of jackets, trousers, blazers, boots, hats ... oh my ... I could go on and on.

When it comes to shopping for fall and winter it’s always a little bit tricky. You want to focus on staying warm and at the same time staying trendy. Plus good quality leather boots or warm coats don’t come with a low price tag. Here comes good planning skills. Firstly think about the staples. Those are the pieces you simply WILL NOT survive the season without. Depending on where you live, it could be either a warm jacket, shoes or a cool hat. It must be something of good quality that would last you at least a season (I am always opting for longer J) without getting ruined or worn out. For those of you lucky people living in California – a good quality cardigan could be that great investment. Those pieces must be selected carefully and ideally would match your vision of style with those basic needs of making you warm and comfy.

If you are lucky enough and still have some money on your credit card (J) after getting what you needed, you can spend a little more on something that you maybe not NEED per se but would love to own. A nice cashmere sweater or leather gloves might have been on your wish list for ages and now could be a good time to get them.

While browsing the web, I’ve come across few items that for sure I will be adding to my wardrobe this season. I haven’t gotten any updated staples for my fall collection for about 2 years now and it’s TIME to change that. I’ve tried on various coats and boots in the last couple of days and now I’ve finally come to a conclusion.

My coat of a choice would be a classic, simple black Mango coat. Perfect for Paris (yes, lately everything has to be ready for a trip to Paris in October J) but the truth is this black coat is such a staple! I love black, I wear a lot of black, and this would be something that would keep me warm and stylish.

While in Massimo Dutti I’ve seen the most AMAZING boots. I think they are absolutely the most gorgeous ones I’ve seen this season so far. I’ve fallen in love with them and they are number one on my list! The other pair I’d wear like crazy for sure would be my Isabel Marant’s Bekkets. Also in black (here comes a shocker J). I love them cause they make me taller but at the same time are extremely comfortable!  I know I am pretty boring with all black but I will be paring it with my favorite of the moment which is a Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus, which I love and which is a perfect red – coral combination for my lips. Together with Topshop skinny jeans, nice blazer and a cool scarf I am ready to face this chilly fall weather.

And what staples are you planning to get this fall?
