Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one those classic movies you can watch countless of times and still never have enough. I am an addict and I’m not afraid to admit that! Since it was my Birthday and I was in New York I was that more excited to play Audrey a little bit and visit Tiffany’s.

I didn’t go there while coming back from a party early in the morning, but in the evening before going to a Birthday dinner and Fashion’s Night Out. It was a perfect moment I must say since the Tiffany’s blue carpet was already waiting for all the guests! When I entered the doors I was immediately touched by the special atmosphere this place has. And I can imagine now how Holly Golightly felt so good only window shopping.  After first gasp of surroundings, I took the elevator to the third floor where the fine jewelry is placed. (For now I skipped the second floor with engagement rings and other diamonds lol). In the silver Tiffany heaven I looked around searching for the charm bracelet I was going to buy for myself. Finally I found it! It was a mini lock in sterling silver on a bead bracelet.  I thought it was so classic and beautiful – just what I wanted! Tiffany’s experience while in New York totally worth it!

What are you favorite pieces form Tiffany’s?

Skoro miałam urodziny i byłam akurat w Nowym Jorku, byłam jeszcze bardziej podekscytowana, aby pobawić się trochę w Audrey i odwiedzić Tiffany’ego.

The number 1

I remember being interested in fashion for so many years. Ever since I can remember I was going through fashion magazines at the newsstands and falling in love with what Audrey Hepburn was wearing in the first movies I saw. I remember exactly the first time I was in Louis Vuitton store in Paris and was dreaming about owning my very own designer bag. For all those years this dream felt like something impossible. As you all know designer bags are not the cheapest things around so for a teenage girl and then a student it was simply out of my limits.

This year I decided to change that! I knew I was going for my holidays to the US this year and I ‘ve decided it was time to invest in a designer bag I’ve longed for few years now. After long consideration and a big list of pros and cons I’ve decided to go with the flow and purchase Rocco by Alexander Wang! I honestly was fighting with my thought for months, putting the money aside – thinking if this is really something I want but then I figured that yes – it WAS the time to get it. And so I did.

I cannot even start to say how special and exciting this was for me. This thrill of going to the Barney’s New York to actually get something and not only look through. I was the client now and I left with my bag strutting down Fifth Avenue with the Barney’s black shopping bag. It was one of those those moments I’ve been waiting for all my life. I know for some of you this might some funny but It really was a special moment for me.

Now that I think about it I am really happy that I was the one to get this for me. My first designer handbag that I will cherish forever. I will remember that day at Barney’s for the rest of my life and I am ready now to get other brothers and sisters to Rocco :)

Do you remember the first time you got a designer bag?

Getting back

I’ve just got my from my vacation. I went to the States where I haven’t been for the last 10 years! It’s been a real déjà vu moment! I was so excited about this trip, getting ready for few months, collecting money for the things I wanted to get (lol) and most importantly organizing the whole trip!

The reason for me going back was a 10 – year – reunion that I wanted to do with my friends with whom I ‘ve experiences my exchange year abroad in America. I honestly couldn’t believe it was such a long time since I’ve seen my friends and visited one of the best cities in the world – Los Angeles and New York. I’ve spend 2 weeks in America – starting my trip in Venice Beach, California – the coolest place ever. If you’ve seen shows like Californication or a video for Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ song (The Adventures of Raindance Maggie) you know what I mean! When I was thinking with my friends where to do our 10 year reunion – Los Angeles came to our minds first. We’ve visited it 10 years ago but this time we wanted to stay in some cool place near the beach but also to be close to Hollywood and other places worth visiting. Venice Beach was a place I always wanted to visit and I was so happy when my friends agreed to stay there. And what a fantastic place that was! Very bohemian, with many street artists, people singing, dancing, having fun at the sidewalk and the ocean right next to it! It felt fantastic! I got most amazing shoes there as well. Vans from The Ave in Venice where you can get custom made products like shoes, t-shirts. My shoes show Banksy's art - A girl with the baloond and the first time I saw them, I fell in love with them! Venice is also a great place to get to Santa Monica - it's just a half an hour walk by the ocean!

After spending time in California I’ve continued to New Mexico where I’ve stayed 10 years ago doing my exchange year and graduating from high school. It was a great experience meeting my host family again, my friends and going back to those places that once felt like home.

The last week was all about the greatest city in the world – New York City! There are really not enough words in this world to describe the greatness of this city. The Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, the Skyscrapers, Fashion and Sex and the City of course J Together with a friend we’ve done all the touristy things you must do while in the Big Apple – we went to MoMa, to the MET, up to the Empire State Building, we’ve spent some time in Central Park, went for a cruise around Manhattan and again visited the city following the steps of Sex and the City J If you can’t tell by now I AM THE BIGGEST FAN of the show. It wasn’t the first time I visited the city but it was the first time I came there as an adult and it had its perks! On the September 6th was my birthday and I got myself 2 things I dreamt for a really long time – a designer bag and a Tiffany bracelet! Those were great moment for me. I also spent some time in West Village, where I’ve seen Carrie Bradshaw’s house (Perry Street 66) and ate a Birthday cupcake at Magnolia Bakery, finishing with a dinner at Brasserie 8 ½ where Carrie is asked to do a runway show!

So many great things I saw and experienced on my holidays. I will be writing more about it over the next few days so come check it out and tell me about your vacation!

And how did you spend your holidays?

London Fashion Weekend

Entrance to the Somerset House

Thanks to a wonderful Miss B. from A Girl, a Style, I was able to spend a fantastic time at London Fashion Weekend. I never actually tend to win anything so to finally win and that kind of prize was amazing! Thank you again Miss B.!

London Fashion Weekend is an event that starts right after the main Fashion Week. It takes place at the exquisite Somerset House, which used to be a palace to the Tudor Family. It was a fabulous set to fashion.
The place was surrounded by fashionistas who wanted to learn the new trends, try on some clothes and in the end of course buy some. Who wouldn’t want to use the opportunity of -70% discounts!

I of course had to check out new collection from Twenty8Twelve, a brand of actress Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah. I’m a huge fan of Sienna’s fashion but I was never able to check out her store. I must say I really liked the clothes! The whole collection was very London look in my opinion. Some ethereal dresses, long sweaters and my favorite – leather jackets. Those last ones were reduced from 400-500 pounds to only 150! No that’s what I call a bargain!

My choice!
I loved the idea of inviting designers who just start to fight for their name in the fashion business. You were able to actually meet them, talk to them and of course buy their designs just before some Vogue journalist will catch them and get them into the magazine. I personally fell in love with Holly Fulton’s style. Especially her graphic dresses, which really stood out! Another brand worth noticing was in my opinion Lowie. The latest collection is dominated by dresses, skirts and sweaters, which all seem to share one element – a bow. Everything was made from organic Fair Trade cotton. You can see that successively English countryside inspires designers.

When it comes to accessories and especially shoes, all the shoe lovers must have been in heaven when entering The Shoe Studio. In there we could choose from a wide selection of Michael Kors and See by Chloé shoes. I didn’t want to leave this place.

But the fashions shows count on you being on time. Latecomers had no chance to get inside. Everything was perfectly planned. Each “Catwalk Show” consisted of a consecutive series of shows. I really enjoyed Jaeger London collection for fall/winter 2011. This well-known British brand showed a collection of beautiful coats of different colors. I loved the latest collection from Osman, whose collection was a combination of colors and architectural cuts were truly inspiring. I liked especially the mixture of black color and neon stripes. My favorite collection during the show though was Bryce AIME. The clothes were extremely original, his woman is a true individualist. I loved the interesting forms, quite futuristic but still easy for everyday wear.

I really hope to be able to attend this event next time. It’s a perfect place for all the fashion lovers who are not able to get into the shows at London Fashion Week but through this event they get to experience the fashion world at least a little bit. I highly recommend!

JT for President!

Since in Poland we just chose our new government last weekend, I find the October issue of "W Magazine" very accuarete. Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried posing as Mr. and Mrs. President look great! Who wouldn’t want to see them in the White House?

In the W’s editorial we can see Justin and Amanda recreating some classic images of political photography. There is Jackie and John Kennedy or a poster from „The Candidate” with Robert Redford. I personally love the idea of this ed. Politics mix with entertainment world more and more. Just look at President Obama and his previous campaign. All of the celebrities and actors giving support to him. Politics inspire the film world. Now Mr. Timberlake is sporting the politic style. Maybe another career change? Singer/Actor/President? Who knows...
