The Mummy Dress Returns

Hervé Léger’s bandage dresses have been making a comeback for two years now. They were first popular in the 1980s when Hervé Léger has started his fashion house in 1985. The designer pioneered the creation of the "bandage" or "body-con (body-conscious)" dress, using materials traditionally associated with foundation garments to create dresses that would mold and shape the wearer's figure with its signature bandage-like strips. After the French house was purchased by New York based BCBG Max Azria Group, its designer Max Azria decided to relaunch Herve Leger brand in 2007 and next year he showed his first collection for the Fall 2008. Bandage dresses were back in the game and everybody wanted to have one. During the runway shows there are a lot of celebrities sitting in first rows and later on wearing Azria’s designs during the parties and events.
It’s not easy to wear a Léger dress. In order to do it and look good at the same time you really have to be fit and have pretty flat stomach. Fortunately very skinny girls are not the only recipients of the bandage dress. One of my favorite looks regarding this dress was Kate Winslet, who wore it at the New York premiere of “The Reader” in 2008. Kate, who’s lost a lot of weight at that time but still, had some real women shape to present, looked amazing in a grayish Léger.

Generally in my opinion those bandage dresses are perfect for women’s curves. They emphasize the real shape of women so there is no shock that Kate or Beyoncé look good in it. The collection for Spring 2010 brings again new designs. My favorite is a Chain-embellished power mesh dress, which was worn by Diane Kruger during 2010 People’s Choice Awards. I hope to be able to get a bandage dress one day but first I’ d have to collect some money since the prices of Léger’s dress range from 800 to over 3000 euros! Plus let’s not forget about some fitness first ;)

If I was a rich girl … Shoes for Fall 2010

In one of the Sex and The City’s episodes Sarah Jessica Parker said that it’s hard to be sometimes in single women shoes. That’s why from time to time we need to get a pair of special ones. I totally agree with this statement. Beautiful and not always comfortable shoes can make a statement and YES we like to make those.
While looking at the fall collections I’ve spotted few definitely special pairs and I suppose if I only was a rich girl, I would definitely buy all of them. Ok not to be greedy … if I really had to choose, I’d pick two pairs. It was a love at first sight. Chloé and Dries Van Noten are my favorites. The hight, shape and colors are perfect. I see myself wearing them with EVERYTHING! I cannot find them in any of the online shops but maybe it’s just a little too early. I someone finds them first, please let me know! Until then I’m coming back to my perfect, imaginary life with all of those shoes in my closet ;)

Flowers go black

Christopher Kane is one of the hottest names in fashion at the moment. A graduate from prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design had everybody blown away by his amazing talent and wonderful designs that he’s created. His newest collection for fall 2010 consists of dresses made from black leather embroidered with flowers patterns. His clothes for the season look like a dark garden, where winter is coming and flowers are turning black. It’s the change of the season that seemed to be an inspiration for the designer. In my opinion it’s very poetic and I love the combination between leather and flower patterns. Apparently I’m not the only one since two young British actresses wore his dresses form the newest collection to the big events. Carrey Mulligan wore it to the Spirit Awards and Emma Watson, who wore it to the London's Emerging Designers event. With those two big names in Kane’s favor it looks like he might get more recognition not only in London but also on other fashion markets.

Style crush of the moment - Diane Kruger

I must say that this style crush is taking a little big longer than just a quick moment. Mostly because it didn’t just happen suddenly one day, it grew on me for few years now. I first recognized Diane Kruger when she played in The Wicker Park in 2004. I thought that this girl has might be next “it” girl. It took her few years and some great roles (and outfits) to get there but she made it and now she’s got into the “ivy league” of the best actors and best dressed list.
Diane is an ex – model, with a great taste in fashion. After finishing her ballet career due to an injury, she’s decided to focus on being a model. When she was 16 years old, she was a finalist for Elite Model Look and has started to work in Germany and in France. After few years in modeling Diane felt like she wanted to so something more. And that’s when she’s started to think about acting. In 2001 she got married with a French actor and director Guillaume Canet. Even though they got divorced in 2006, they’ve managed to stay friends and even act opposite each other in a French movie Joyeux Noël. Same year the German actress met an American actor Joshua Jackson, with whom she’s been ever since. Diane and Josh are one of the Hollywood’s most beautiful and fashionable couples.
In December of last year, she announced the nominations of the 67th Golden Globe Awards and also was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild for Best Supporting Actress and Outstanding Performance by a Cast of a Motion Picture for her role in “Inglourious Basterds”. Thanks to Quentin Tarantino and his “Basterds”, Kruger was doing a lot of promotion for the movie, which helped us to observe all the fabulous looks, she’s created for herself.
In 2010 during a German film festival Berlinale Diane Kruger has won a Goldene Kamera for the best international actress.
Diane is in my opinion one of the most talented actress today. I admire her acting as much as I do her clothes. She had so many great fashion moments in the recent years but this last Award Season has just proved that she is one of the best, like she was during the Oscars Ceremony 2010. With her new movie projects and brand ambassador job for Jaeger-LeCoultre and L'Oreal, Diane will for sure stay in the picture for a while.I’m definitely going to keep my eyes on her and cannot wait to see more from Ms. Kruger.

Anja - An Inspiration

In the recent interview for Wojewódzki Show on Polish TV station TVN, supermodel Anja Rubik spoke about her career and life as a model. When asked about other celebrities that she’s met during her travels around a world, she said that some time ago she had a nice meeting with a pop singer Rhianna. Anja said that a Barbados beauty came up to her and told her that she was the reason for her hair style change. When she saw Anja’s new short look, she’s decided to get a similar hair cut. I must say that when I saw Rhianna’s shorter look for the first time, I thought it reminded me of Anja’s hair but now she’s proved me right. Obviously Anja is a great fashion inspiration to all of us but I didn’t expect her to be an inspiration to celebrities as well. Her hair grew back again. She looks beautiful as always but I really liked when she cut them short so this is a little tribute to that look.

Kylie Minogue five years after being diagnosed with a breast cancer decided to take part in a campaign which is supposed to make awareness about the disease among women all around the world. Australian singer after one year battle won with cancer and now she’s ready to become a face of the campaign supporting the knowledge about it. Sienna Miller and Claudia Shiffer are helping their friend while stripping down in the campaign that was launched last night. The beautiful pictures were taken by great Mario Testino. The trio of models looks amazing. Check out Claudia Shiffer, who is a stunning mum – to – be!

Sometimes it’s hard not to go crazy with the credit card when you see such great designer pieces. Last night I’ve been researching one of my favorite store to shop in the future (when I’ll afford it of course) which is www.net-a-porter.com
I've been looking at those pages for about an hour, when I've realized I'm choosing very geometrical tops and blouses. That's a new thing for me especially since I really hated math and everything that goes with it. This time I just might make a peace with it because I love this trend and how the material is being sewed together.

First one is a blouse from Vivienne Westwood Red Label. It's a Crepe adjustable-collar blouse for €369.29! I simply love the shape and color of it!



When I saw this Jil Sander Eos asymmetric stretch-jersey top I DIED ;) Its shape is great. Geometric slevees just make it more interesting. Simple but original and perfect for both work and evening going out. If only it didn't cost €330!



I just adore this Moschino Bow-detailed cotton-blend top! I like Especially how neck is almost all covered in the back and how the cotton covers model's back.!Could be yours for €488.21





There is something about this Marc Jacobs' Faux-pearl-embellished satin top that just can't make you forget about it! Black satin with pearls is one of the best combinations there could be. With its shape and the way material covers shoulders it could be a great date top. There just would be a shame to rip it off since it looks really fragile and costs €860 ;)
