MET Gala New York, May 3rd 2010

On May 3rd 2010, the annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit took place at the Metropolitan Museum. It was hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of the Gap, and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue to celebrate the opening of the "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" exhibition at The Met. Many actors, singers, models and fashion designers attended the event known for its importance in the fashion world. I believe New York hasn’t seen so many beautiful and fashionable people in one place in a long time.

The celebrities walked hand in hand with their partners and the designers of their gowns. Most of the looks were amazing! It seemed like there were four colors that made biggest statement. There were traditional black, white, but also purple and blue in all kinds of shades.

There were few looks that made a great impression on me. Let’s just look at Emma Watson in her beautiful white Burberry gown. She’s walked the red carper with the designer Christopher Bailey. Emma looked amazing and proved to be a great Burberry muse. The trio of McCartney lovers (Stella herself, Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson) looked fab in their McCartney dresses. And just look at Camille Belle’s red Jason Wu gown. A true vision! One of my favorite fashion icons Sienna Miller showed her loyalty to Pucci, even though her friend Matthew Williamson is not its creative director anymore, and wore Emilio Pucci from head to toe. Plus she brought Jude Law – first big event together after their reunion. So happy for them! Sarah Jessica Parker wore Halston Heritage again (She showed of a white dress on the SATC2 poster). Since Ms. Parker took a designing role at Halston back in January we’ll probably see more that brand on her. Kate Bosworth, minus boyfriend Alexander Skarsgard, paired with Anne Hathaway and chose Valentino for the MET Gala. Simplicity is golden sometimes, especially when you’re wearing Calvin Klein Collection. Both Zoe Saldana and Diane Kruger seemed to agree on the subject and they looked incredibly sexy in long dresses.

I was really disappointed with what Rachel Bilson wore. Usually she’s very on the top of things but this time something in her look just simply didn't make sense. In my opinion the biggest problem with the Louis Vuitton dress was that it has a bad length and shape for Rachel, whose body is more that perfect but in this trapeze of a dress she looked very unflattery. Another example would be Kristen Stewart, who I just wrote a piece about, but this time her stylist didn’t do a great job I’m afraid. It’s just a shame that Kristen legs were hidden behind this long piece of material. Did I just write that about Chanel?? Let me rephrase that. Chanel dresses are ALWAYS beautiful. This one just didn't fit Kristen well. Or maybe I’ve just seen her in greater looks and I got spoiled? Katy Perry in a CuteCircuit dress looked just like … Katy Perry. This girl is a great performer and singer and this dress is totally her style. But it’s just not mine.

Anja Rubik - a designer

Anja Rubik is a supermodel, one of the best in the world. Also she's my favorite model, as the blog's readers could have figure this out ;) Anja is beautiful, talented, smart, and gives amazing shopping advises in her interviews (Thanks to her I've started using Bioderma's Sensibio H2O micellar cleanser, which is great!). But Polish model has many other talents to share with the world. She’s become accessories’ designer for an Italian company Quazi.

In November of 2009 Anja has designed her first collection for Quazi and now she’s come back for the second season with shoes and bags for the Spring/Summer 2010. The collection hit the stores here in Poland at the end of last month and it’s almost all gone by now. Last weekend I went to get a pair of slippers for myself and I bought last ones in my size. “My greatest goal while working on this project was to create a collection of shoes and bags that I would want to buy and wear myself” said Anja on her collaboration with Quazi.

The whole collection is very Africa inspired with zebra prints in every design. The sandals and sleepers are all made of leather and are very comfortable. They can be worn both to the beach as well as during running errands in the city. I already cannot wait for hotter weather to come to put on my new shoes!

Kristen Stewart. From Bella to Swan.

To many of us Kristen Stewart is known for her creation in the „Twilight“ series. Her role as Bella Swan, a teenage student and a vampire’s girlfriend, got her recognition all around the world. But Kristen is not only some teenage celebrity with screaming fans wherever she goes, she’s also one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood with many roles to prove that.

Kristen Stewart is a 20-year-old Californian girl, who with support of her parents (both in a film business) started to act at the age of nine. Her first bigger role came in 2002, when she’s accompanied Jodie Foster in the famous „Panic Room“. Later on she was seen as Lucy Hardwicke in „In the land of women“ , as Tracy in „Into the wild“ and finally in „The Cake Eaters“ as Georgia, a 15-year-old girl with a terminal illness. In this last role Stewart showed that she’s one of those actresses to watch closely. I was truly moved by her creation, full of pain but also willingness to love and be loved.

When in 2008 she first put on Bella’s clothes to play a part in the „Twilight“ movie, from a one time small movie actress she became immediately a big movie star. Wherever she went, she would meet screaming fans and paparazzi following her. To be honest I thought that the role of Bella Swan would make Kristen Stewart stop being a small-but-ambitious movie actress but positively she’s proved me wrong and we could have seen her in „Adventureland“ back in 2008 and this year she's made another progress and played a singer Joan Jett in „The Runaways“, where she didn't only act but sang as well! Last month Kristen turned 20 and with three more Twilight movies to premiere („Breaking down“ is going to be divided into two separate films) it looks like her career cannot be in the better place.

As Kristen acting skills evolved, her style did the same. In her everyday life, Kristen is seen with her inseparable Ray Ban wayfarers, converse shoes, jeans and a T-shirt or a flannel shirt. She has this cool, casual style that suits her perfectly. The red carpet looks are though a completely different story. With every event and premiere she seems to look better and more fashionable. It probably happened thanks to Tara Swennen, who’s become actress‘ stylist at the end of last year. Swennen managed to combine Kristen’s edgy and old-school style with a bit of glamour. Let’s just look at her LA „New Moon“ premiere back in November 2009, when she’s worn a fabulous Oscar de la Renta gown.

Last February at the Baftas, young actress was presented with an Orange Rising Star Award. She’s also appeared at this year’s Oscars, where she was one of the presenters. Kristen wore an amazing Monique L'Hullier gown and while she was standing on the podium at the Kodak Theater I had a feeling that she’ll be back there receiving an Academy Award very soon.

Pastel Pink obsession

I've just seen the newest movie by Jane Campion „The Bright Star". And I must say I really loved it! It's one of the most graphic and artistic films I've ever seen. The characters and interiors look like they were hand painted in beautiful pastel colors. The color that was seen most often and I must say caught my attention was pink pastel.

While searching through the SS10 collections and what’s being sold in stores I’ve found a lot of dresses, skirts and accessories that are perfect to wear for the spring. As we all know pastel pink is a romantic color and what color is better to wear in spring when people fall in love and want to share their happiness with everybody else.

Pastel pink looks great with other colors from the pastel family like baby blue for example but it also looks great while compared with the natural background. Like in „The Bright Star“, try to wear it for a walk to the park or to the forest. Be romantic!

Karl Lagerfeld is doing coke

Karl Lagerfeld has never hidden that he loves to drink Coca Cola light. In one of the interviews he admited that back in 2001 he's lost around 30kg with coke's help and it remains his favourite drink until this day. Now he could have thanked Coca-Cola company by designing the limited bottle of Coca-Cola Light. As you can see from enclosed pictures the Lagerfeld's white bottle shows designer's silhouette in black with his signature and Coca-Cola logo also in black. The word light and bottle's cap are pink.

The picture for coke light's ad was taken by Lagerfeld himself. He's chosen models Coco Rocha and Baptiste Giacobini to pose for him for the picture. The limited Coca-Cola bottle is sold together with a bottle opener. It costs approximately 50 euros and can be bought in Parisian stores Les Galeries Lafayette and Colette. Anybody going to Paris in the near future?
